In the year 2024, on August 16, water, via the Baltic Sea, took eternal possession of my body. With this, I become part of the intricate systems of multi-species bodies.

Marriage to the Sea
2024—2025
7 letters, 25 × 21cm, alluminium, video 5'00", photography prints

Marriage to the Sea is an intermedia response containing photography, video and seven metal objects addressing themes of Astrida Neimanis’ hydrofeminism. Water acts as a carrier of witnessed moments, dissolving the divisions between past, present, and future. Through seven inscribed metal letters sent into the waters, I intimately delineate how every ebb and flow my body experiences is tied to the water flowing through all living beings. I identify my own physicality as the „body of water”, which guides me through life’s stages and continues its endless, preserved journey from body to body. Metal, a mark of human industrialization, ultimately yields to the absolute nature of water through the progressing corrosion on the letters' surfaces.
